 hearts-afire.gif (3277 bytes)About Us

Homeless Animal Rescue Team is a 501c3 non-profit dog rescue group of dedicated people who volunteer their time. We rely solely on donations from the general public, fundraisers and adoption fees to take care of the many dogs we save. We pull dogs from high kill shelters in Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, South Carolina as well as Southern Illinois. We provide our rescued dogs with the medical care they need as well as the love and attention they deserve. All of our dogs are vet checked, spay/neutered, dewormed, vaccinated and heartworm tested (heartworm testing is for dogs over 6 months of age).

We require you to fill out an adoption application on our website and submit it via email or fax it to 708-221-6133. Once your application is approved you will receive an email or phone call from us to set up an appointment for you to meet the dog you are interested in. We will then perform a visit to your home to ensure that our rescued dog is going to a forever home. When you visit the foster home you must bring a picture ID as well as proof of residence. We are foster home based and therefore we can not adopt out of state. Occassionally we will make an exception based on our availability to perform a home visit.   We will adopt to residents within 50 miles of Plainfield, IL.  Some of our dogs do require a fenced in yard.  This will be stated in their profile. If you live in a rental community we must have your landlord's approval prior to adoption.   Please read our adoptions guidelines page before filling out an application.

We do not have an actual shelter building. Once we have the necessary funding we will open a building for our rescued doggies. We are always looking for temporary foster homes to care for the dogs and puppies that we rescue. We provide food and we are happy to help obtain a crate, leash, collar, toys.  You just provide a warm and loving home. Fostering on average is a commitment of 3 weeks to 3 months. Puppies are generally adopted faster whereas adult dogs can take a bit longer to place. If you are interested in fostering for our rescue please read our Foster Intro Letter and then fill out a foster agreement. You can email this agreement to thedoglover@att.net or fax it to 708-221-6133. We have foster homes in Will, Cook and Dupage Counties. We foster and adopt within a 50 mile radius of Plainfield, IL. We are also in need of volunteers willing to transport dogs, take dogs to vet visits and perform home visits for us.

ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE!

We are always in need of donations. We will accept anything. We are in need of dog food, crates, collars, leashes, toys, shampoo, garbage bags, paper towels, bleach and baby wipes. We are also collecting used inkjet cartridges and cell phones that we can recycle and get money for. Gas cards are always appreciated as we spend a lot of money on gas for transporting, home visits and vet visits. We will also accept items that we can place for sale on EBAY to raise funds to help with our outstanding medical bills. Monetary donations are also graciously accepted.
